Xiaomi Brings Out Mi 11 Ultra To Rival Galaxy S21 Ultra At $1,067

Xiaomi today launched the Mi 11 Ultra, a flagship contender to rival Samsung’s Galaxy S21 Ultra. The Chinese manufacturer launched the phone for the global markets alongside two other phones – Xiaomi Mi 11i and Mi 11 Lite, wherein the former will stay restricted to China market while the latter will be available for global buyers. Let’s take a look at each of these devices.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra With Snapdragon 888 SoC, OLED Screen

The Mi 11 Ultra comes with a 6.81-inch QHD+ high-end OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass Victus. It also has a 1.1-inch OLED screen on the rear, which comes in handy during selfies and front recordings. The rear screen is used for display notifications and more with always-on functionality.

Under the hood, the Mi 11 Ultra is powered by a flagship Snapdragon 888 processor and up to 12GB of RAM (depending on the variant). It features an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

A 5,000mAh massive battery completes the package with support for 67W wired and 67W wireless charging. The Mi 11 Ultra can also double as a power bank for other devices and support 10W reverse wireless charging.

For optics, the phone gets a triple camera setup on the rear featuring a 50MP Samsung GN2 primary sensor (with 1.4-micron pixels, Dual Pixel Pro autofocus tech, Optical Image Stabilization OIS, and Night Mode), a 48MP ultra-wide IMX586 sensor (with 128-degrees FoV, macro mode, and PDAF), and a 48MP periscope IMX586 sensor (with 5X optical zoom, 10X hybrid zoom, 120X digital zoom, 8K recording, and OIS).

The phone gets a 20MP front camera neatly tucked inside a punch-hole cutout placed on the top left for selfies. Xiaomi touts that the cameras can simultaneously shoot with the “Multi-Cam” functionality. Users can also pick the sensor they want to use for recording a video.

On the software front, the Mi 11 Ultra runs Android 11-based MIUI 12. The phone also has a superpower saver mode that enables users to use the rear screen to save the phone battery.

Given the specs and features, the Mi 11 Ultra takes the direct dig at Samsung’s Galaxy S21 Ultra flagship and the recently launched OnePlus 9 Pro.

Xiaomi Mi 11i and Mi 11 Pro Also Announced

Alongside the Mi 11 Ultra, we also get Xiaomi Mi 11i and Mi 11 Pro. The Mi 11i is essentially a rebranded version of the Redmi K40 Pro Plus. The phone comes with a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.

A 108MP+8MP+5MP triple camera setup is on the rear of the device, while the front side gets a 20MP selfie snapper. A Snapdragon 888 chipset powers the device paired with a 4,520mAh battery supporting 33W wired charging. It features an IP68 rating, fingerprint sensor, an IR blaster, and NFC.

Xiaomi Mi 11i

On the contrary, the Mi 11 Pro is a lighter version of the Mi 11 Ultra. The phone features a 6.67-inch QHD+ OLED screen, a 5,000mAh battery with 67W wired charging and 67W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging). A Snapdragon 888 SoC powers the device.

Concerning optics, the Mi 11 Pro gets a 50MP+13MP+8MP triple camera setup on the rear with support for 1,920fps slow-mo video recording.

Pricing and Availability

The Mi 11 Ultra starts at CNY 5,999 (around $914) for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant, CNY 6,999 (approx. $1,067) for the 12GB RAM + 512GB storage variant. For European buyers, Xiaomi will also launch a special 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model at €1,199 (approx. $1,415). The phone will be up for grabs in Ceramic Black and Ceramic White color options.

Xiaomi Mi 11i phone

Xiaomi’s Mi 11i will be up for sale in Cosmic Black, Celestial Silver, and Frosty White color variants. The 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant will cost €649 (approx ~$764) while the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model will cost €699 (approx ~$823).

The Mi 11 Pro will stay restricted to China markets for now. The phone is priced at CNY 4,999 (approx ~$762) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant, CNY 5,299 (around ~$807) for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model, and CNY 5,699 (around ~$868) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model.
