Google dates back to 1995 at Stanford University. Larry Page and Sergey Brin worked together to build this search engine. Before being known as Google, it was the Backrub.

If you’ve used Google Ads, there might be a time to delete your account. But if you’ve never done it, you might wonder how. Read this guide to learn how to delete a Google Ads account today.

Deleting a Google Ads Account

Before you cancel, ensure you know how to write a Google ad if it comes down to low conversions. If you delete a Google Ads account, you’ll receive a refund for any unused balance. This doesn’t include promotional offers.

You can pause your campaigns if you have unused funds. Ensure that you’re aware of all optimization tips before you delete them.

You’ll still need to pay for any leftover balances as well.

To cancel your account, you’ll need:

  • Billing set up
  • Administrative access

For manager accounts:

  • Ownership of the client you want to cancel
  • Administrative access

To cancel:

  • Head to Google Ads Account Preferences
  • Click Account Status and expand it
  • Click Cancel my account

Delete an Ad Account

Head to the Accounts menu. Select Add Accounts from the dropdown.

Choose the ad account you’d like to delete. Click close account.

You’ll need to log into your Google Ads account to delete an ad. Head to the page menu. Select Ads and Extensions.

Check any ads you want to remove. Click Edit to remove it.

Why Is My Account Already Deactivated?

If your account is inactive for more than a year, they’ll cancel it. You can’t cancel your Google Ads account without a proper login.

You’ll need the sign-in email, customer ID, and account billing information. Contact Google support if the person in charge of administrative access is gone.

You can review information, download it, and update account recovery data if you want to use it later. If you decide to recover your account, you can do so within five days. Past the five days, it can’t be recovered.

Can’t Delete Google Ads Account

If you can’t delete your Google Ads account, reach out to Google Ads support. You might not be eligible if you don’t see an option to cancel it. You’ll need to review the requirements for cancellation through Google.

Various companies can help you delete your account or reach out to Google. You’ll need to ensure you have the login credentials to cancel your account.
