Poco Parts with Xiaomi After Two Years and Becomes an Independent Brand

Poco has always been a part of Xiaomi ever since its inception in 2018. However, after two years of being a part of Xiaomi, Poco is all set to part ways with the global smartphone brand.

Poco has sold nearly 6 million units of smartphones in the last two years. Looking at the success of smartphones, the company has decided to become an independent brand.

Poco has made this announcement via social media channels. Xiaomi launched Poco as a sub-brand in the year 2018. The first model of Poco, i.e. Poco, became quite successful amongst the youth.

However, all the later models of the brand were just some redesigned models of Redmi phones.

Twitter Announcement:

Poco took it to Twitter to announce the separation from the global Chinese brand. Moreover, Poco Global posted a separation note saying that the brand is all set to enter the new ear as an independent global brand.

Poco has also declared that they have sold smartphones in more than 35 global markets. They have sold nearly 6 million units of smartphones globally since 2018.

Their first smartphone Poco F1 was a major hit. This particular smartphone has reached the benchmark of selling 2.2 million units of phone globally.

However, the other models did not perform so well. The other models include Poco C3, Poco X2, Poco X3, Poco M2, Poco M2 Pro, Poco X3 NFC and Poco F2 Pro.

Separation from Xiaomi:

Poco is an Indian subsidiary that is a part of Xiaomi. However, ten months before this news, the Indian subsidiary of Xiaomi got separated from the global brand. It became an independent brand.

While Poco made this decision now, Xiaomi made an announcement about the separation back in January. The global Chinese company declared that Poco India would become a separate smartphone brand.

However, Poco is still using Xiaomi’s services and MIUI skin. This news is going to affect BBK Electronics. It is a Chinese conglomerate which markets various different brands of smartphones like, Oppo, iQoo, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Realme, etc.

This company takes care of marketing all the major Android smartphones in the market. As on now, there are no further details about the separation of services.

There is no information about after-sales services of Poco phones as Xiaomi shares its service infrastructure with Poco. It also uses the same MIUI custom skin. Poco has yet to come up with all these new services.

Poco M3:

Along with the separation news, Poco has also come up with its latest smartphones model, i.e. Poco M3. This phone comes with triple rear cameras. It will be 48MP + 2MP + 2 MP.

The front camera will be 8MP. Poco phones are known for their amazing camera. This triple rear camera is perfect to face the competition from major brands. It will sport octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC processor.

Poco is going to launch this model in the global market. It will cost nearly $149. It will sport a 6000 mAh battery. Moreover, it will work on Android 10 Operating System.

Poco has made a big decision to separate from the global brand Xiaomi. This move can either make Poco or break Poco.
