Bose is one of the most popular brands in the audio segment. The company is known for its high-end audio products with cutting-edge technologies. Bose created a new buzz today by launching new true wireless earbuds, named Bose Sports Open Earbuds. While the brand already has plenty of earbuds in its audio products fleet, these new earbuds are surely the quirkiest of all.
Bose’s earbuds variants are already rivaling Apple’s AirPods on the market with their comparatively lower pricing and high-end quality. Although Bose’s latest Sport Open Earbuds miss out on active noise cancellation feature, they sure are taking a high road with their unusual design aimed to please fitness enthusiasts.
Quirky Design For Responsible Listening
The unconventional earbuds effortlessly wrap around the ears instead of going inside them. The ear hooks design resemble Beats Powerbeat Pro, but the Bose Sport Open Earbuds hold up above the ear canal to reimagine personal listening. Bose touts the design to be aimed at keeping listeners aware of their surroundings.
Talking about specs, these new earbuds by Bose feature Bluetooth 5.1 support. There is a dedicated button on each earbud; one of the buttons is for controlling your paired device’s voice assistant, while the other button is for adjusting music playback. These earbuds also have a microphone for making calls. Users can also download the Bose Music app to control these earbuds better.
The earbuds are also sweat, heat, rain, and snow resistant with IPX4 rating. Bose touts them to offer comfortable listening throughout the usage. Concerning battery life, they can go on for up to 8 hours on a single charge.
The Sport Open Earbuds by Bose are priced at $199.95 and will start shipping from January 20 onwards in the US. If you’re impressed by the design of these earbuds, then you can also go ahead and pre-order them before they hit the sales shelves.
Surprisingly, the users won’t get a usual charging case inside-the-box. Still, they will get a protective carrying case and a charging base that could deliver up to 3 hours of music playback on just 30 minutes of charging.
Open Design & High-End Listening, Really?
The design is made for responsible listening wherein the user is aware of the surroundings. Bose also claims that the product delivers a high-quality sound directed towards the user and ‘away from everyone else’.
Well, we think that Bose might be getting ahead of itself when making a bold promise for high-quality sound output when the design leaves a good part of the ears open. We will get to know the real story when the reviews of these earbuds start coming out. Until then, we would like to keep an open mind and go with what Bose claims.
The new earbuds by Bose only weigh 14 grams for each piece. We love the design because it enables these buds to “lock in place” with no ear tip and no skin contact. Interestingly, these earbuds also miss out on the bone conduction technology usually used by rival products.
