Apple’s AirPods have been the first wireless earbuds that started the trend and ruled the category for quite some time. Of course, soon after their launch, other brands also came up with their iterations of AirPods, but for loyal Apple users, nothing could ace the original AirPods. Not even the recently launched but highly-priced AirPods Max.
Well, it looks like Apple is bringing a new variant of AirPods for its dedicated users, dubbed the AirPods Pro 2. The new AirPods are expected to debut in April 2021, and before they do, we are here to share all the information that we know about them so far.
The true wireless earbuds, AirPods Pro 2, are expected to launch at a way more affordable price tag than the AirPods Max. The upcoming AirPods 2 successor is expected to launch with enhanced features like better water resistance, on-device controls, active noise cancellation, custom fits for users, and more.
Enhanced Design With Custom Fit
The AirPods Pro 2 will boast a better and more compact form factor, thanks to the SiP (System-in-package) chips that Apple will be using to keep the hardware components close together and locked. The SiP will also give rise to better-sized earbuds with enhanced sound quality than the AirPods Pro.
Going by the recent reports, the upcoming AirPods Pro 2 shall have a design that could look a bit like Samsung’s Galaxy Buds or Google’s Pixel Buds. We could see a smaller stem this time and more of a contoured shape for the earpiece that fits perfectly into ears with a more ergonomic design fit that brings more comfort.
On the whole, we can expect the new AirPods to look better than the previous models and also more convenient. The ergonomic fit will be an upgrade for users as it will help keep the AirPods in place and lower the risk of them slipping.
And the design upgrade does not stay limited to the AirPods; it will also crossover to the charging case. The charging case’s height is expected to be around 46mm and the width at 54mm.
One could also expect Apple to introduce new color options for the latest wireless earbuds. And this will be in line with giving tougher competition to AirPods alternatives on the market that are available in more colors.

Hardware Upgrades & More Features
The upcoming AirPods are also tipped to come with a W2 wireless chip for enhanced connectivity. Also, Apple may throw in some upgrades in the form of a more powerful battery. It means that the new AirPods could offer more hours of listening.
Another bump would be in the form of an active noise cancellation feature that shall give better competition to existing options on the market. Many of the current AirPods alternatives have active noise cancellation that helps users get the advanced audio output without any background disturbance. There will also be an ambient light sensor.
Interestingly, upcoming AirPods shall also have advanced driver unit to offer enhanced functionality to users. And this should be on Apple’s priority list as the company would like to give users substantial reasons to go for the latest model.
As per a recent report, Apple filed a patent that hinted towards the company bringing touch controls to AirPods. Going by the patent filed, Apple may bring gesture controls like face touch, head shake, or even teeth clenching to trigger some functions. Other assumptions include Oximeter functionality to measure blood oxygen level via sensors. Or pause music if it senses any hazard in the surroundings or even counting steps.
There also has been some speculation concerning the H1 chip or an upgraded chipset that Apple may use on the latest AirPods. Well, all such assumptions would come to rest when Apple finally launches the product in April.
When Will Apple AirPods 2 Launch?
According to Mac Otakara, Apple is expected to launch the AirPods Pro 2 in April 2021. There are also reports that hint that Apple might launch the wireless earbuds alongside iPhone SE 3. Some of the earlier tips also hinted that the company might push the launch date to next year, but it seems wrong for now. might
Well, we can count on Apple releasing the AirPods Pro 2 in three months from now. It seems believable because the AirPods lineup has been due for an upgrade. Concerning the expected pricing, some of the reports hinted that Apple might price the product around $250.
