Smartphones with higher refresh rates are all the rage these days. Having a flagship with a 120Hz refresh rate is becoming standard for consumers. A high refresh rate ensures seamless graphics performance on the screen while playing games. And now, Nubia is all set to challenge the status quo by bringing out new phones under the Red Magic 6 series featuring displays with a 165Hz refresh rate.
165Hz Refresh Rate & 500Hz Touch Sampling Rate
The Nubia Red Magic 6 series features two new phones, the Red Magic 6 and Red Magic 6 Pro. Both phones are now available in China with 6.8-inch AMOLED screens at 2400×1080 pixels resolution. The screens offer a 165Hz refresh rate that shall project smooth graphics. While delivering the highest rate, the screen on these upcoming flagships can also go down to a 30Hz refresh rate when on battery saver mode.
Not just a high refresh rate, the new phones also feature a 500Hz touch sampling rate for single touch and 360Hz for multi-touch. The sampling rate enhances the device’s response time when gaming.
Other specs of the upcoming Nubia phones include a powerful Snapdragon 888 processor clubbed with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Concerning optics, the Nubia Red Magic 6 sports a 64MP+8MP+2MP triple camera setup on the rear with ultrawide and macro lenses. On the front, the phone comes with an 8MP selfie snapper.
A massive 5,050mAh battery backs the standard Red Magic 6, while the Redmi Magic 6 Pro settles for a 4,500mAh battery. The larger battery model supports 66W charging, while the smaller battery model boasts 120W charging support. The Nubia Magic 6 Pro’s battery can charge from 0% to 50% in five minutes.
Other features on the phone include capacitive shoulder buttons and a copper heatsink cooled by Nubia’s high RPM fans. The phones have an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Nubia Red Magic 6 Series Launch Date & Expected Pricing
The Nubia Red Magic 6 series could head for a global launch sometime around the end of this month. The series is already up for grabs in its homeland, China. The Nubia Red Magic 6 (base model) costs CNY 3,799 (around $587) and is available in Carbon Fiber Black and Cyber Neon color options.
The more premium Nubia 6 Magic Pro model with 12GB RAM and 128GB storage costs CNY 4,399 (around $680), while the model with 18GB RAM and 512GB storage costs CNY 6.299 (around $1,020).
